Cyprus Tourist Arrivals Down for June

On the basis of the results of the Cyprus Passengers Survey, arrivals of tourists reached 509,662 in June compared to 511,073 in June 2018, recording a decrease of 0,3 percent.

For the period of January – June arrivals of tourists totalled 1,631,023 compared to 1,645,149 in the corresponding period of 2018, recording a decrease of 0,9 percent.

Tourist arrivals from Russia decreased by 5,1 percent in June compared to June 2018 and a decrease of 12,5 percent was recorded for tourists from Sweden.

Tourist arrivals from the UK remained at the same level as 2018, recording a minor increase of 0,1 percent, whereas arrivals from Israel recorded a significant increase of 39,7 percent.

The UK constitutes the main source of tourism for Cyprus for June, with a proportion of 32,5 percent while arrivals from Russia comprise 23 percent of total arrivals, from Israel 6,5 percent and from Sweden 4,4 percent.

For a percentage of 86,4 percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in June was holidays, for 9,2 percent was to visit friends and relatives and for 4,4 percent was for business.
