According to a study by Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau, this amounted to more foreign delegates than the previous year, specifically up 14.2 percent compared to 2016.
The foreign delegates attended 54 percent of the congresses and accounted for 34 percent of the total number of participants at this type of event, an increase of seven percent compared to 2016.
The increase support International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) recently placing Paris second only to Barcelona, Spain as an international congress city.
Attendance to ICCA- compliant conventions also jumped by more than 50 percent, reaching 112,000 delegates in 2017 compared to 74,856 in 2016. The conferences also generated economic benefits of EUR1.27 billion.
