EU Budget Committee Visits Sofia

Members of the Council of the European Union (EU) Budget Committee recently visited Sofia municipality in Bulgaria to learn more about the EU-funded projects successfully carried out in the city.

The members were presented with information about already released main projects as well as about various opportunities for investment and business development in the Bulgarian capital.

During the 2007-2013 programming period, Sofia Municipality attracted nearly BGN3 billion (EUR1.53 billion) in EU funds for a total of 89 projects.

The biggest project in the capital to be funded by the EU was the metro, the third line of which is under construction.

The other projects are mainly connected to transport and water supply infrastructure, energy efficiency, ecology, educational infrastructure and public recreation areas in Sofia.
