Outer Hebrides Tourism was awarded GBP15,000 (USD20,698) for a new digital media movement, including a film documenting the islands’ best outdoor adventure experiences. The campaign encourages young travellers to explore the area and discover the diverse activities on offer.
The film sees young explorers meeting island hosts who show them their home’s amazing natural playground and provide insight into island life.
Visitors can seek out the extraordinary through exciting activities on both land and sea, including abseiling, mountain biking, surfing, snorkelling and kayaking.
Raising the profile of Outer Hebrides as an adventure destination is a key aim of the project and the recent completion of Hebridean Way, a long distance walking and cycling trail along the length of the islands, has kick-started a new focus on outdoor sports.
Riddell Graham, director, industry and destination development, VisitScotland, enthused, “Whether you want to get an adrenaline kick along Hebridean Way or delve into the islands’ fascinating past at Calanais Stones (an arrangement of standing stones) - the Outer Hebrides has something for everyone.”
