For the period of January – March arrivals of tourists totalled 357,475 compared to 369,438 in the corresponding period of 2018, recording a decrease of 3,2 percent.
Tourist arrivals from the UK decreased by 6,9 percent in March compared to March 2018 while a decrease of 8,5 percent was recorded for tourists from Greece and 36,6 percent decrease from Germany. Contrary to that, an increase of 10,1 percent in tourist arrivals from Russia was recorded.
The UK constitutes the main source of tourism for Cyprus for March, with a proportion of 37,3 percent while arrivals from Russia comprise 14,7 percent of total arrivals, from Greece 8,2 percent and from Germany seven percent.
For a percentage of 70,1 percent of tourists, the purpose of their trip in March was holidays, for 16,9 percent to visit friends and relatives and for 13 recent for business reasons.
